Little Dragons
Sensei David Hills created the Little Dragons program several years ago to help young students learn skills that can be built upon as they mature in martial arts. Through fun activities such as rolling and crawling like animals, obstacle courses, "Belt Tag", practicing kicks, punches, and beginning Kata, Little Dragons begin to learn Karate and develop a foundation to build upon.
Sensei Hills has a dynamic way with his students, taking their enthusiasm and using their ideas, such as creating "animals" for each movement. He is able to connect with children as an educator, and being a parent himself, he understands children and how they develop and learn. Sensei Hills highlights attributes such as respect for oneself and one's family, never saying "I can't", but rather "I can't yet."
Little Dragons will have achievable goals, but will be confronted by a steadily increasing level of difficulty required to learn each skill set. Children continue to learn and grow, and we meet children where they are at in order to build self-esteem.
Little Dragons are involved in the community. They have performed fundraisers for victims of the Japanese tsunami and for their Dojo Family when necessary. They march in Bath's Parades at St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, and July 4th. Just look for "Lost the Lion" or "Bling the Dragon," and you will find Little Dragons and our Lion Dance Troupe hard at work.
